i had the most bizarre day today. i’m on leave today, so woke up late. nothing to cook. decided to go to gadong to find something to eat.
so, took the number 01 bus. so far so good. had lunch at jollibee … spaghetti with fried chicken drumstick and ice lemon tea. a bit overpriced, but that’s ok. it’s standard fast food rate.
bought a tool ( i dunno wht u call it) to fix my bike: the seat’s too low. then bought some snacks at jaya supermarket in gadong centrepoint. then … went to the mall to get my favourite almond pie at the fun bakery (they have a new a bit blur cashier now) and ok, good to go. but i’d spent too long looking for the right DVD to watch (need a boost of creativity for my scriptwriting project … finished Act I but think something’s wrong somewhere). then, i got a lamb shwarma kebab at the supermarket in the mall.
so, then by the time i wanted to look for a bus, it was nearly 6pm and there were no buses in sight. asked a saleslady at the shop across the road. she said there are buses up to 10pm. but i wasn’t gonna risk it.
so when a no 01 bus came on the shop side (whereas i should be waiting for the bus on the mall side) i got on it and it took me past the tamu gadong (which ive just discovered is soooo near, silly me) and through kg kiulap and past the hsbc where i got my credit card AND past plaza athirah where i bought lots of fabric before at hong textile then it went to bandar and stopped at the bus station. so, i went down and then looked for the no 55 bus but it wasnt there. so i asked someone and they advised me to take the no 38. so i went up there … lots of people, then went down again … did that abt three times, before i decided … oh, well. lets just see where it goes. when i was on the bus, the no 55 arrived, but the driver had already started collecting money for the tickets. so, anyway … at least this bus has a bell, unlike the shorter buses ive been on.
BUT the worst part was, i left my lamb shawarma kebab on the bus, i think coz i cant find it. waaaaaaa … that was my dinner!!!

went to get my prepaid electricity top up earlier in bandar. i went yesterday, but was too late. the elec board closed at 3pm. so today i went earlier.
in brunei, if you are living in an apartment, most probably you’d be using prepaid coupons for your electricity. all you need to do is press CLR (clear) on the meter and key in the top up code. the electricity board is in bandar, a single storey building opposite the silver hirise PGGMB (Persatuan Guru Guru Melayu Brunei) building (CIMB bank is also in this building). when you get to the electricity board, just take your number from the machine and give them your metre number (check on your metre box) and how much top up you want to buy. that’s it. very fast.
just note that the board is open everyday except for sunday. it’s 8am to 3pm mon to sat but on fridays, it’s 8am to 11am.
if you are taking the bus, stop at Tamu, cross the road and walk down from there. but you can also stop at the bus station and walk from there. of course, if you are driving, then … you just park at the elect board parking lot. bear in mind, you have to pay for parking.
if you are living alone, $50 is more than enough per month. but it doesn’t hurt to put more, so you don’t have to keep making a trip to the board.
